Tested on MacOSX 10.8.5 w/ Xcode 5.0, 4.6.3 and 4.5.2, various builds,
including terminal Xcode, terminal no Xcode and Xcode IDE,
and permutations with/without mp4v2 and mkv.
- push defs for optional static libraries (OSL) to respective modules
- adjust make-driven linking to use OSL
- adjust Xcode-driven linking to use OSL via ld -filelist option
- add Xcode project group for all OSL
- set Xcode project to use clang compiler
- add osx 10.8 xcconfig files
- add "supplemental" xcconfig file where EXTERNAL_CONFIGURE may be used
to specify configure-time options
- patch mp4v2 to compile with clang
Intructions for custom configure-options within Xcode IDE:
1. edit macosx/xcconfig/supplemental.xcconfig
2. save file (unsure how long it takes IDE to see change but it does)
3. build clean
4. build
5. never commit supplemental.xcconfig to repository - it is meant to
exist but not effect the build on a clean checkout, and to be used
only as a developer transient developer customization file.

New supported samplerates: 8, 11.025, 12, 16 kHz.
Now 8, 11.025, 12, 16, 22.05, 24, 42, 44.1, 48 Khz are supported.
Unsupported samplerates are sanitized to the closest samplerate for all encoders.
Samplerates < 32 kHz are now forbidden for AC3 encoding (sanitized to 32 kHz). Most AC3 decoders don't support such samplerates.
New upmixing: 3.0 (Front Left, Right & Center) can now be upmixed to 5.1 to preserve the center channel.
New mixdowns:
6.1 (Front Left, Right & Center, Surround Left, Right & Center, LFE)
7.1 (Front Left, Right & Center, Surround Left & Right, Rear Left & Right, LFE)
-> available to Vorbis & FLAC encoders for compatible input channel layouts
7.1 (Front Left, Right & Center, Front Left & Right of Center, Surround Left & Right, LFE)
-> available to AAC encoders (ca_aac, ca_haac, faac) for compatible input channel layouts
Mono (Left Only): Stereo to Mono by discarding the Right channel
Mono (Right Only): Stereo to Mono by discarding the Left channel
-> available to all encoders for non-Dolby Stereo input
The "6-channel discrete" mixdown becomes "5.1 Channels".
New bitrates: 960 - 1536 Kbps.
This lets users work around poor audio quality in crappy encoders by throwing more bits at them.
Bitrate limits have been re-worked and re-tested for all encoders.

KNOWN ISSUES:
1. OSX + Xcode builds do not support parallel builds; attempting to
use them may cause unbounded number of jobs. However, disabling
via configure --disable-xcode avoids the issue.
2. OSX ppc binary produces binary which has audio-scan problems.
3. OSX ppc64 binary has not been runtime tested.
